Who Needs DSR?
People are often aware but equally often unaware. The difficulty with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is that although common symptoms are manifested in most patients, they may not all be present and the magnitude of severity can vary.
The most common symptom being daytime fatigue is subjective and cumulative and gradually over many years often resulting in unawareness making diagnosis difficult. Unfortunately, in many of these cases obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is not discovered until other ailments manifest prompting investigation. Ailments may include: stroke, heart attack, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, diabetes, depression, obesity, and often the misdiagnosis of lung disease.
Fortunately in most cases diagnosis and treatment of this common sleep disease can be managed through a take home over night study and follow up through the DSR clinic with a registered respiratory therapist.
